Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2009

To all of you, friends and neighbors, to those whom we have not seen in too long a time, and everyone we have never met in person. We all share this lovely green and blue planet that is now in danger. As 2009 draws to a close, there is much to be grateful for and much to be hopeful about. Exactly what these things are will differ for each of us, but if you take just a moment to look for the good, some small good thing, you will find it.

Ask each person you see today, “What is good?”

Even if you cannot find anything that puts a smile on your face, try this. Put a smile on your face.

Just doing this will bring some small good into your body, lightening the load you are carrying and boosting everyone around you when they see your smile. Be like the baby, the innocent that smiles regardless of all that may be out or order around them.

If you are sad for others in the world, who are suffering, know that lightening your own sadness will help to diminish the suffering. The more you can be happy, the more you can add light where there is darkness.
